Yesterday we were a small part of the governor’s celebration at the State Capitol with the MSU Football team and the signing of a proclamation to declare January 20, 2026, as Bobcat Day in Montana.

We created plaques for both the Governor and Coach Brent Vigen to mark the National Football Title!

Happy Bobcat Day!

Today was a spark!

A spark for students, for our team, and for what’s possible when industry and education build together.

We’re incredibly thankful for our Johnson Metal Works team and our partnership with the Bozeman School District to help show this next generation the many avenues in manufacturing; welding, machining, project management, design, install, field scanning, and the real-world work that brings it all together.

Bozeman High + Gallatin High Welding Technology students toured the shop and saw the tube laser, CNC, press brake, spray booth, powerlift doors and the industrial, architectural, and structural projects we’re proud to build.

Big thank you to Governor Greg Gianforte and his team, along with Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Sarah Swanson and Department of Commerce Director Marta Bertoglio, for joining us and supporting the momentum behind skilled trades and workforce development. And we can’t forget our incredible school partners, Career Coordinator Karl Schwartz and welding instructors Max Allmendinger and Jo Doolittle, for helping make the day happen. More to come!

Education and industry came together in a big way yesterday!

Scott and Courtney Johnson, owners of Johnson Metal Works, are proud to also serve on the Gallatin College Advisory Board. Supporting the Welding Technology program has been a passion of ours for years, many of our talented employees have come directly from this program.

Yesterday, Courtney joined a roundtable discussion with Governor Greg Gianforte and U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon on the importance of education and workforce partnerships. Montana State University and Gallatin College were selected as part of the Secretary’s 50-state tour.

Moments like these remind us why partnerships between education and industry matter. They’re not just about building skills, they’re about building Montana’s future. Meeting the students and hearing their stories was the true highlight of the day.
