This year, as a potential recipient of an MMAP grant from the MassMEP , Allan and Karry attended RAPID + TCT to represent Phillips Precision and Inspection Arsenal. What stood out is that while the conversation everywhere seems focused on 3D printed parts, very few people are talking about the infrastructure and systems inside of the 3D printing industry itself.

On the show floor, it was clear that additive manufacturing has moved into real world production. Crazy stuff like powder bed fusion and binder jetting. Companies are making parts printed in metals and high performance polymers for aerospace, medical, and defense. These were not concepts, but real machines and software already being used in real industries right now. Like Space!

We thought we came to Rapid + TCT for cutting-edge 3D printing technology. Turns out, the most impressive thing I saw all day had four legs and zero training.

This dog grabbed a 3D-printed ball and locked in like his job depended on it no slip, no adjustment, no overthinking.

Low-key, the best part of the show wasn’t the tech… it was the dog.
