Position Overview
As an Experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of a variety of heavy machinery. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety will directly impact on our productivity and the satisfaction of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on a wide range of heavy equipment.
· Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and safety inspections.
· Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools and assessing the root cause of malfunctions.
· Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems to restore equipment to operational conditions.
· Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
· Collaborate with equipment operators and other team members to identify potential issues and provide guidance on proper equipment use and care.
· Comply with safety regulations and always company policies, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others.
· Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
· Assist with on-site field repairs as needed, including travel to remote locations or job sites.
Required Qualifications
· Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems as applied to heavy machinery.
· Proficiency in operating diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
· Problem-solving skills & the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
· Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; willingness to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is an asset.
· Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, and to work in various weather conditions and environments.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with electronic diagnostic tools and software.
· Prior experience with multiple brands of heavy equipment (Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, etc.)
