Gretchen Van Ness, Executive Director of LGBTQ Senior Housing Inc., recently visited the Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss The Pryde in Hyde Park, New England's first affordable, LGBTQ-affirming senior housing development!

Located in a renovated former school building, The Pryde provides affordable housing for older adults, integrating residential units with spaces and services that support residents and foster connection and belonging. The former gymnasium was also repurposed into a public community center that offers a safe and welcoming space for the Hyde Park community to gather.

Nitsch is proud to have supported this effort alongside Pennrose Companies, helping deliver a project that reflects the power of thoughtful, community-focused design.

Friday was World Environment Day, reminding us of the role we all play in responding to a changing climate.

Nitsch works to design infrastructure that supports more sustainable and resilient communities, integrating green infrastructure, thoughtful stormwater management, and site design strategies that reflect natural systems. This includes our ACEC Engineering Excellence National Recognition Award–winning Boston Green Infrastructure Handbooks, which provide practical guidance for implementing and maintaining green infrastructure – and serve as a model that can be tailored to local conditions for other cities working to advance climate resilience.

Through collaboration with our clients and partners, we’re helping shape solutions that respond to today’s environmental challenges while planning for the future.

We’re excited to see the release of "Living Better: A Regenerative Design Approach to Coastal Redevelopment" from ULI Boston/New England! The report explores how regenerative design principles can be applied to the Lower Mystic River waterfront, highlighting how thoughtful redevelopment can move beyond minimizing impacts to actively restoring natural systems.

June is Pride Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and its history, contributions, and resilience.

At Nitsch, our Pride@Nitsch Employee Resource Group supports LGBTQ+ staff and allies while helping foster connection, visibility, and belonging within our firm.

The group also plays an active role in planning and supporting Out in Design networking events, bringing together LGBTQ+ professionals and allies from across the AEC industry. These events are made possible through collaboration with a number of partner firms – CBT Architects, Gensler, Fennick McCredie Architecture, Copley Wolff Design Group, ICON Architectural Group, Moody Nolan, and Consigli Construction Co., Inc. – and we’re grateful to be part of a broader community working to strengthen connections across our profession.
