ATTENTION MWM RACERS, especially at Springfield Raceway. There was a post earlier today by the track clarifying the rules. We then received a flood of calls. Here is a closer look at the styles in question. The stepped style is the factory piece, often in our custom level shocks Synergy added a dust cap and scraper as shown. This dust cap for a short time did come on some SZ shocks from the factory but no longer does. It protects the shock in from bottom out and reduces the dust that reaches the inner chambers of the shock. To be safe we recommend removing this part from the shock. Removal is very easy to do, securely hold the shock, and take a flat screw driver, place along the seam and lightly smack with a mallet. It will pop off, and you can remove. This is the best way to not worry if your legal or not. The shock performance will not be effected. If you are worried and have time swing by the shop, just call me, and I will remove them for you in a few minutes at no charge.
The other one shown is the similar to the one that caused the DQ but easier to see. This is a competitor brand, and we do not install this style rod guide in our shocks. This will require the shock to be fully taken apart to replace with a standard rod guide.
We made this to help clear up some things on the post, and make it super clear how to fix if you have an issue.
Also as always we offer MWM shocks at two price points, one budget set for $800 and one upgraded set for $1200. We to not offer anything above that price point and these shocks win lots of races at all tracks. Most of our racers have 4 shocks for the class with a couple having 6. This would be right side slick track options. We also can sell the AFCO 14 series shocks to those that want to run that route.
We appreciate the track making it clear, and hope this helps show examples of what we do and encounter.
