From flood damage to future-ready, New Rochelle High School’s Natatorium is getting a second life, and the science behind it is fascinating.
After Hurricane Ida left the pool completely out of commission, PWGC dove deep (literally) into the hydrogeology of the site by drilling, monitoring, and testing to understand exactly how groundwater and stormwater are conspiring to cause flooding. The goal? Design solutions that don’t just fix the problem, but make sure it never happens again.
Oh, and nearly 300 students got a front-row seat to real-world engineering in action. Hard hats, live drilling, and a lesson no classroom could replicate.
This is what resilient infrastructure looks like: rigorous science, community investment, and a commitment to building for the climate challenges ahead.
