We looked at it and thought what if we just covered it in brick instead?

And honestly, I’m so glad we did. Instead of tearing everything out and starting over, we used thin brick veneer from Old Mill Building Products to completely transform the existing concrete and the difference is night & day.

The herringbone pattern. The variation in the brick. The way it looks like it’s always belonged here. The way it looks brand new but full of character at the same time.

This is exactly why I love DIY: sometimes the answer isn’t ripping everything out and starting over. Sometimes you just need to look at what you already have a little differently.

Just wanted to share this project again because I loved it so much! I did this at our old house. It was a 1926 Sears Roebuck house and the kitchen had really beautiful brick in it and I wanted to bring that to another area of the house.
