Here’s how Dan and Kate from The Overland Series automated retractable side steps on their 1959 Land Rover.

In this build, they use a Progressive Automations linear actuator to make the side steps automatically deploy when the door opens and retract when it closes.

The setup combines the linear actuator with a DPDT relay and a door-activated switch to create a simple, reliable automated system for their custom Land Rover.
