We opened our doors in May of 1983 as B&M Auto Repair in a small 2-car garage. After expanding as much as we could there, we moved in June of 1994 to a much larger facility. Adding a machine shop along with other current operations, we changed the name to B&M Engines and Machine to fit our expanding services. In Jan of 1999 we sold B&M Engines and Machine and opened Performance Engines. We began s

elling remanufactured and used engines to the tri-state area repair facilities only. After several years and seeing a need for an above average installation facility, we opened our doors to the surrounding community to fill that need. Dedicated to a professional installation, we have taken the time and patience to fulfill our customers' needs. During the next few years we started to build and service transmissions along with our current operations. No longer building the performance line of engines as much as before, we decided to make adjustments to our operations beginning with a name change to AFFORDABLE Engines and Transmissions. We at AFFORDABLE Engines and Transmissions feel that any engine or transmission repair is a big investment, so as we sell and install our engines and transmissions, we strive to insure that our customers are getting the best product, best service and best warranty for their money. We carry and install engines from 3 major remanufacturers

Adjusting the valves on a 350 Chevy Small Block Engine in a 1954 Chevy Truck. Back off rocker arm til you hear the rocker start tapping. Tighten it back down til the tapping stops. That is zero lash position, tighten rocker arm 1 full turn in 1/4 turns giving a few seconds for the lifter to bleed off.
