Have you listened to the latest episode of The Fabricated Metals Podcast yet? 🎙️

Episode 6 dives into a question that impacts every project: when should a manufacturer actually enter the conversation? It’s not about quoting or production logistics — it’s about timing, alignment, and setting projects up for success from the start.

If you’re involved in design, engineering, or sourcing, this is a conversation worth carving out time for.

Once drawings are finalized and timelines are locked, flexibility narrows quickly.

Material changes become costly. Tooling adjustments create delays. Alternative processing paths are harder to explore.

Early manufacturer involvement expands what’s possible, from recommending different materials to optimizing tooling strategies, while there’s still room to adjust. The earlier the conversation starts, the more options remain on the table, and the fewer trade-offs teams have to make later. 🔄

Bring fabrication into the conversation early. From design choices like bending vs. welding to material type and thickness, small decisions upfront can lead to major cost savings and smoother production down the line.đź’ˇ

Procurement matters more than you think. When material specs are too strict, sourcing gets harder, costs go up, and sometimes you can’t find the material at all. Keeping flexibility in your callouts opens more options—and better pricing.🚀
