✨ Intern Spotlight ✨
Meet Beth Crater, a junior at Southern Illinois University Carbondale pursuing a degree in Architectural Studies with minors in Construction Management and Operations and History. Beth serves as the Freedom by Design Director for the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). She is also actively involved with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), having attended both the AIA Prairie Illinois Conference and AIAspire 2026.
This summer, Beth is serving as a Drafting Intern at Diamond Technical Services. She was interested in joining DTS to broaden her experience beyond architecture and gain a deeper understanding of the engineering and industrial fields to complement her education.
During her internship, Beth has contributed to projects for industrial facilities across multiple industries, continuing to strengthen her CAD skills and gain experience using drafting software in a collaborative, professional environment. She's also developed a better understanding of piping and mechanical plans, along with the terminology, codes, and regulations that support the industry.
When describing her experience at DTS, Beth chose three words:
