Did you know that the largest earthquake in Virginia happened almost exactly 120 years ago in Narrows? The 5.9 quake on May 31, 1897 was felt as far south as Georgia, as far north as Pennsylvania, and as far west as Indiana and Kentucky.

An earthquake hit Giles County early Friday morning, according to theĀ United States Geological Survey.
