A friendly notice:

The Personal Defense Center Indoor Pistol Range on Airport Road in Bismarck is a One-Stop Shop..

Here’s what I mean:

We had numerous people come into the Personal Defense Center today to get Fingerprints and/or Photographs.

They had paid to take a ND Concealed Carry Class from another instructor here in Bismarck. They passed the class. Then they had to go elsewhere to get the photographs & then to yet another place for fingerprints.

Very inconvenient.

The PDC provides professional certified CCW instruction, to include weapon qualification shooting and then the PDC also provides the mandatory photographs and fingerprints required by the ND Attorney General for the actual CCW Permit. Easy One-Stop Service.

NO RUNNING AROUND ‼️

THANK YOU 🙏🏻 to All the Men of Local Churches who arrended the Shoot-Outing
Last Sunday, March 8th at the
Personal Defense Center Indoor Pistol Range.
It was very well attended and eminently successful. I hear there may be a Women’s Outing planned for the future.

This one's for the men! The community churches are coming together to host a shooting day at the Personal Defense Center! March 8th at 12:30pm! Bring your own lunch! If you'd like to bring your own firearm you sure can! See you there!

2/11/26: WARNING!!! A 73 year old lady just came by the store desperate for $200. Why? She had won the Publishers Clearing House Price of $250K. She just needed to pay the fees to claim her prize. She had already provided gift cards, and other funds. The final fee was $200. This poor lady was absolutely desperate because she had liquidated everything she had. She is now behind on her rent, she has no money for food or gas. She was crying and begging for just $200 more. I couldn't convince her is was a scam. This isn't my first rodeo... I called the police. The officer couldn't convince her is was a scam. We photo-googled the pictures the scammer sent her... Google clearly said it was a scam.
Damn the Scam!!!

2026 !!! Happy New Year !!! Guess What…?

Jay’s Pawn Shop officially turns 40 years old this January 2026. In January 1986, Jay’s Pawn Shop opened in the front half of Roy’s Body Shop (now the Scooter Shack) on the Strip in Mandan. Jay was 29 years old. He turns 70 this Summer.
Jay had resigned his Commission as a Captain in the US Army and had been working for Procter & Gamble in the Dallas, TX area.
Jay was born & raised in Mobridge, SD. He & wife Georgia decided they wanted to raise their Family in the Dakotas. So, they sold everything (including the family vehicle) to raise the funds necessary to open Jay’s Pawn Shop in Bismarck/Mandan.
Georgia moved North with the Family in October’85, found a home to rent, obtained the necessary licenses & permits and secured a store location.
Jay fulfilled his obligation with P&G, packed the house & drove a loaded truck to ND in December ‘85. Georgia & Jay then remodeled the business location suitable for a pawnshop and began loaning money in January 1986 -
40 Years Ago!
It wasn’t easy & we learned a lot in that time. Over the years, we opened 3 pawnshops in Bismarck/Mandan. Then we opened 18 Money $tations in ND & SD as we pioneered payday loans in the Dakotas.
We met thousands of amazing people, loaned a lot of money and helped anyone we could. We raised a loving Family and lived a life one day at a time. 40 Years!
As we aged & priorities adjusted, we down-sized to one last location… Jay’s Pawn Shop, 303 Airport Road in Bismarck.
Our Son Nicholas owns & operates the Personal Defense Center Indoor Pistol Range in the same building.
