Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) was selected to provide a natural-looking, permeable pathway surface that supports everyday use while complementing the park's design aesthetic. Its durability and erosion resistance help reduce maintenance without sacrificing the character of the landscape.

🏆 2026 Honor Award | General Design

We're proud to share that East Potomac Miniature Golf has received a 2026 Honor Award in General Design from the Maryland Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects mdasla

The historic course, opened in 1931, holds a unique place in Washington, D.C.'s recreational and civil rights history. The restoration carefully preserves its original course layout, distinctive masonry, and character while making it more accessible and welcoming for today's visitors.

Organic-Lock was proud to contribute to the project as the Surface Material Contractor.

What happens when a landscape is built on top of infrastructure?

At Presidio Tunnel Tops in San Francisco, the landscape itself became part of an ambitious engineering achievement, transforming the space above highway tunnels into 14 acres of public parkland with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

For a project of this scale, every material needed to balance performance, durability, and aesthetics.

Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) was selected to create pathways that:

• Blend naturally into the surrounding landscape
• Provide a stable, durable walking surface in high-traffic areas
• Help reduce erosion while supporting site drainage
• Maintain permeability for sustainable landscape performance

The result is a pathway system that complements one of the country's most iconic public spaces while supporting the long-term performance of the landscape.

At Tulsa Educare 4, every surface was designed to become part of the learning experience. The project features natural materials throughout, including wood, stone, water elements, and a bike path incorporating 12 different surface materials to encourage exploration and sensory development.

For the stabilized aggregate sections, the design team selected Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) to provide:

• A natural appearance that complements the landscape
• A durable, stable riding surface for the bike path
• Reduced erosion adjacent to water play features
• Permeability to support effective site drainage
• Smooth transitions between multiple surface materials

The result is an outdoor environment where the landscape itself becomes part of the curriculum, supporting movement, discovery, and nature-based learning while standing up to daily use.

Designed to honour Taddle Creek's history, the project creates a physical connection to a landscape that once shaped this part of Toronto.

Developed by Brook McIlroy's Indigenous Design Studio, the project incorporates water, native plantings, cultural elements, and pathways that reflect Indigenous knowledge, teachings, and relationships to the land.

Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) was incorporated into the pathway system to provide a durable, permeable surface that supports accessibility while complementing the natural character of the site.

Long before this landscape existed, a creek flowed through this site.

Today, the Indigenous Landscape at Taddle Creek helps tell that story through design, planting, pathways, and gathering spaces.

Built on top of the buried Taddle Creek at the University of Toronto, the project was designed to honour the creek's history while creating a space where Indigenous communities can gather, learn, and see themselves represented on campus.

Led by Brook McIlroy's Indigenous Design Studio, the landscape was shaped through extensive consultation with Indigenous elders, knowledge keepers, and stakeholders. Water, healing, and Indigenous representation became central themes throughout the design.

Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) was selected for the natural pathways, providing a durable, permeable surface that supports accessibility while maintaining a natural character. OLSA pathways were installed with support from Amrize and the Organic-Lock team.

Designed by Rhodeside & Harwell , Riverfront Park was developed within the Rappahannock River floodplain, requiring materials and design solutions capable of withstanding periodic flooding while maintaining long-term usability.

Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate (OLSA) was incorporated into the park's gathering areas to provide a durable, permeable surface that complements the surrounding landscape while supporting flood resilience.
