Visions of the Bigger Picture: I’m sitting in the 8th grade Math class and my players are working together. They’re teaching. The other boys in the class got into a group and started to help each other as well. They’re leading. My massage this season has been “Being a leader isn’t just a title, it’s action.” These are the same leaders they don’t want in the school. These are the same leaders they claim are the worst. These are the same leaders that will change the World. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to believe in them more than they believe in themselves.

Laila Edwards is officially headed to the Winter Olympics, becoming the first Black woman to compete in ice hockey for Team USA.

The 21-year-old trailblazer was named to the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Team for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics, marking another milestone after previously becoming the first Black woman to join the national team.
