I found this ancient Photoswitch photoeye on our mezzanine, and had to see if it still worked. I mean, why not, right? Using all proper safety features, like leaving the back cover off while checking it.....it's only 115VAC....

Just saw these pictures from an installation several years ago in Kentucky. We built the transfer car, and the outfeed conveyors to automatically strap cubes of concrete blocks going into coal mines. The pattern for strapping the cubes allowed them to remove wooden pallets, which are a problem once underground in the mines.

We designed this system to take automatically stacked wood pieces and place bottom boards and strap them to the loads. The load lengths vary, and we had to place the bottom boards on a set center. The bottom batten feeder is similar to several that we have built, this one shifting the bottom boards over the strap centerline on a standard strapping machine.

The exit is a dual chain conveyor, with an air operated tilt off. The customer also added two automatic labeling machines, that we integrated into the system.

Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Ability to analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations and complete product, square and aligned for assembly. Newell Equipment manufactures specialty automation equipment. Have to be able to travel for installations, valid drivers license, climb, pass drug test. Interesting job, never the same product, we design and build to suit customer requirements. Electrical abilities are a plus. Provide your own standard tools, the job will be a bit of everything.

Finishing up a system in our shop, using empty boxes, but working on automatic operation is a lot easier with empty loads than with 2,500 # loads.

Happy new year! Finished this system up yesterday, all stainless steel frames. Intralox sanitary belts, rapidly moving product from an overwrap machine to a Wipotec checkweigher, then up, to allow a personnel pass through. Then down the curved exit conveyor through the wall, delivering to an existing exit conveyor.

Here's a new strapping machine that we just installed to put a strap around a roll of paperboard. It's the tallest one that we have built, so it is in two pieces to be able to ship it. There's some concrete work going on right next to us, made for a dusty couple of days.
