Please folks, consider adopting a child from Heidi’s Kids this Christmas. This is the best charity I've ever worked for, Colton Byars Hawkins and I really believe in them. They're reaching the kids in the worst circumstances, and the organization is run by volunteers, there's little overhead, so your money is going directly to those in need. They work with Lovelady, too, so the overflow of giving reaches those families.
I can't begin to enumerate all the other programs they sponsor, like the Irondale Blessing Box, resource rooms at various elementary schools in at-risk schools, weekend food backpacks for those in need at these schools, and fun activities for the children.
It's one of the most effective charities I've encountered. It deserves your support. The best endorsement is the number of police officers and firefighters from Birmingham, Irondale, Trussville, Leeds, and Moody I've encountered while working. They don't give up their free time to just anyone, but they believe in this organization.
Please give to this little organization that provides so much more directly to those in need, more than anyone would expect. Trust me, they'll make the most of your donation.
