On behalf of Basiloid owners, Rob and Mandy French, and their employees, it is with a heavy heart that we update our Facebook status.
On, Christmas Eve, before 11:00 am, just as workers were finishing up their shift to go home for the Christmas Holiday, smoke was seen coming from the attic in the production area. Workers called 911 and the local fire department arrived on scene. In a matter of minutes it was apparent that backup would be needed from other area fire departments. Around 4:00 pm the fire was contained. However, despite their efforts, Basiloid, which has been in business since 1952 was considered a total loss.
Basiloid has obtained access to a vacant manufacturing facility located a few miles from Elnora. We will begin setting up for production next week at this temporary site. Telephones and computers will be installed and customers will be contacted as quickly as possible as were able to recover several company files. Our plan is to have phone calls transferred to the temporary site and Judy Stedman our Office Manager/Customer Sales & Service Rep can still be reached via email at [email protected] Meanwhile, crews will begin the cleanup process at Elnora and plans to begin rebuilding at the Elnora site will immediately follow.
We would like to sincerely apologize to our customers for this unforeseen circumstance. We ask for your patience and understanding as we set up in our temporary location. We will resume production as soon as possible of the “Lift-a-Pliance” attachments while striving to provide the quality products that you have received in the past 67 years.
We would like to thank all fire departments, EMT’s, police and everyone who stopped by, called , and offered their assistance. Each of them gave up Holiday Time with their families to help our Basiloid family in a time of need. We are also very thankful that no one was injured.
We are deeply saddened by our loss, however, we look forward to the New Year as we continue to assist our valued customers with their material handling needs.
