-Forgewelding feet-

Repairing a slew of leg vises that I have accumulated over the years. This one needed a new peg leg. Fastest solution seemed to be a bit of pipe welded around the leg to give that authentic look! What do you think!

In preparation for Mother’s Day I taught a rose making class at David Norrie Blacksmith School.

With a full house we made over a half dozen custom steel roses.

Forge Cooking Friday -

Today we are roasting up some Blueberries Brats over the coal forge!

You need:
13” of an old rasp
1 - 5 gallon bucket of your favourite coal/coke
27 - Blueberry Brats
1- roasting fork preferable looonnng

Active cooking time: 2 hours

Start up your coal fire
Then begin by folding over the last 2” of each end of the rasp and forgewelding it down.

Make sure to only use one welding heat per end.

Then fold in half and forgeweld the two folded pads together being careful not to weld the eye.

After satisfied with the weld’s integrity go to town shaping up the blade of your dreams. Focus on width/height first as length is easy to get later.

Now your fire is the perfect temp to start those brats!

Roast within 6” of the flames for a crisp shell and then hover 12-15” up flipping often to achieve a good inner temp.
