Before fall fieldwork begins, take a few minutes to check equipment that will travel on public roads.

Make sure lights, flashers, reflectors, mirrors, slow-moving vehicle emblems, hitches, and safety chains are clean, secure, and working properly. Replace damaged or faded safety markings, confirm that implements are locked in transport position, and follow the equipment manual and applicable road regulations.

Good visibility matters, especially when larger equipment shares the road with faster-moving traffic.
