16 Years Ago, Center Rock Helped Make History.
On October 9, 2010, Center Rock’s 26-inch LP Drill broke through more than 2,000 feet of rock at the San José Mine in Chile, reaching the 33 miners who had been trapped underground for more than two months.
Center Rock was proud to be part of the international team behind Plan B, working alongside drilling professionals from around the world to create the rescue shaft that would ultimately bring all 33 miners safely back to the surface.
Four days later, on October 13, the world watched as the final miner emerged safely.
Sixteen years later, we remember the incredible courage of the miners, their families, and everyone involved in the rescue — and we remain incredibly proud of the role the Center Rock team and our drilling technology played in helping make the impossible possible.

Our HDD product lineup includes the HDD LP DRILL® pull-reamer, ranging from 12″ to 60″ (305mm–1524mm) with custom sizes available, and the HDD Mono-Hammer, a steerable rock hammer built for pilot-hole drilling from 4.75″ to 12″ (120.5mm–305mm).
