It is difficult to write this but here goes. After much prayers, research and diligence, we have reached a decision to not reopen Haskell Hardware at the current time. The new location we had found was acceptable but the total amount that would be needed to purchase the land, complete the needed excavation work, build and finish a building and stock it was greater than we had anticipated ($600,000 +). We want to thank all of our customers, whether you only came in once or were there almost daily. We couldn’t have made it without you. We pray that someone with the youth and vision will see the opportunity that exists to serve the wonderful community of Haskell. Thank you, our friends!

Hello again friends and neighbors,
In response to many questions and comments from yesterday’s post, I wanted to share our vision and why specific boxes need to be checked in our land search. To rebuild, we need a building of 4000-5000 sf of open interior space, an additional 2000 sf for receiving/warehouse space and, ideally, room to expand this building as our community and business grow. We have several ideas of items and product lines that we feel to be good potential growth areas. To accommodate this, we need a minimum of 1 acre if city sewer is available and two if a septic system will be necessitated. The layout of the property will dictate the future store design (square, rectangular, etc). Location wise, we would like to be 1/2 mile in any direction from the 67/229 stoplight. Could handle as far as “downtown” Haskell on 229 but no further than the health center on 67 South. We appreciate all your comments and always welcome feedback! Y’all are great!

Hello our fellow hardware men and women. Most of you know the event that led to our closure and many have inquired as to our future plans. Since the roof collapsed on the building we were leasing, we have tried to find a permanent Haskell home. Our first preference, to purchase the property where we were located from the existing owner, fell through after several discussions. Since then we have inquired about multiple properties that would be suitable for both our current needs and anticipated growth but have been unable to secure a location that works within our budget. While there are several other location options, the criteria that we feel are best for our business and the community are not adequately met with these. We are continuing to search and desire to be back open to serve you, our friends and neighbors, as soon as possible. Your continued thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Tim Pruitt
