There has been some questions about how tight the nut shout be tightened on the Slab’asaurus. The quick answer is, tighter than you think! But material type, shape, and holding screw length are also contributing factors. The great thing about the Slab’asaurus; is how forgiving it is; don’t be afraid to tighten it down a little bit more.

The Slab’asaurus is capable of holding thinner rocks so they can be cut for the largest face. Here are a couple examples of recently held and cut rocks.

Even smooth tumbled rocks like Montana /Yellowstone agates; as well as thin rocks, are no challenge for the Slab’asaurus. You would never be able to hold rocks and cut them in this orientation, in a standard slab saw vise.

An additional benefit of using the Slab’asaurus, is that you can sometimes fit a larger rock into your saw, then what your saws vise is capable of holding. This petrified wood/stromatolite piece was much larger than what my 16” saws vise could hold; not to mention the odd shape that wouldn’t work in a standard saw vise.

Proud moments this week!!!
International Slab’asaurus customers have received their vises!!! Not gonna lie; it took some effort to get these shipped, but I’m so proud to see some of my vises being used in New Zealand, Tahiti, and the UK.
