Strong teams are built on more than just the work we do every day.

Our annual company picnic gave us the chance to slow down, connect with coworkers and their families, and enjoy some friendly games together.

It's become an amazing tradition for our employees — time set aside just to celebrate each other and everything we've accomplished together.

Wrapping up our internship program, our interns; Alex Martin, Hank Brundage, Ryan Mitchell and Mats Hegstrom, took the stage this week for their final presentations — bringing together everything they learned, experienced, and built over the summer.

They presented their findings and analysis to a group of traders, showing off a real understanding of the lumber industry along with sharpened analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

We're proud of the effort, curiosity, and drive this group brought to the table all summer. Thank you for everything you contributed — we can't wait to see where you go next!

Family Night at the Ballpark! ⚾

Our Plateau team traded lumber tallies for scorecards this week, bringing employees and their families out to cheer on the Bend Elks - Gena Stadium! Great food, great weather, and even better company — nothing beats watching a game with the people who make our work (and our lives) so much fun.

Last week, our interns headed to Portland for two days at FCTG Headquarters for an Intern Social — an inside look at commodity trading and life in a high-level professional environment.

Between networking with company leaders and building relationships with fellow interns, the trip was all about learning, growing, and making real connections. Our interns walked away with sharper professional skills, industry insight, and a firsthand feel for what makes FCTG's culture stand out.

Curiosity, engagement, and confidence were on full display — we can't wait to see where these future professionals go next.

Meet the last of our 2026 summer interns — Matthew "Mats" Hegstrom!

Mats is an accounting student at the University of Oregon, joining us this summer to gain real hands-on experience. Off the clock, you'll find him fly fishing, following sports, playing Club Baseball for Oregon, or hanging out with his brothers at Delta Sigma Phi.

Welcome to our 2026 intern team, Ryan!

Ryan is an Economics and Finance major at the University of Oregon, a four-time Dean's List honoree, Treasurer of Sigma Chi, and a Junior Analyst with the UO Investment Group. Before college, he worked as a ranch hand in Montana. Outside work, he's into camping, solo backpacking, fly fishing, golf, and table tennis.

"I'm thrilled to gain new experience this summer in such a unique and diverse workspace. Between trucking, trading, and invoicing, I'll be building skills in relationship and risk management, logistics, and data analysis. Team PFP took on the 216-mile Cascade Lakes Relay together — 10 employees, one team, one goal. Crossing the finish line in 33:25:00 with a 6th place finish in the Corporate Division and 60th overall out of 123 teams, this relay was a true reflection of who we are: a culture built on showing up for each other, pushing through the tough miles, and celebrating the win as a team. Proud of every runner who represented PFP.
