That's a wrap on the 99th National FFA Convention. I can't say enough how amazing these 6 young men and women are. They represented our chapter, school, and community in the most professional, respectful, and honorable way. We spent the day by getting the inside look at some alternative livestock production systems. Our first stop was at Montrose Alpaca Ranch where we learned about the fiber industry. Our final stop was at Hardy Reindeer Ranch in central Illinois where we toured the Ranch that pioneered domestic reindeer production in the lower 48 states.

National Convention day 2 is a wrap. We spent the day at the convention where our members networked with industry reps from all segments of the agriculture industry as well as universities from all over the nation. They also engaged in a resume building workshop to prepare them for their next steps after high school. Our day ended by using our critical thinking and teamwork skills by conquering an escape room. Next up: two more industry tours before heading home.

Liam, Henry, Brock, and Carter went tl Kirkwood this week to compete at the West Branch FFA freshmen livestock judging contest. The guys evaluated classes of cattle, swine, sheep, and goats. It's great seeing so many freshmen getting involved in our chapter!

They came in as food science rookies and walked out as champions of the food product development contest. The Belle Plaine and Lawton-Bronson Agriculture & FFA combined team placed first as part of the first annual Iowa State University Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition food science crash course today. Congratulations!
