We're not going to pretend there's a secret sporting goods department hiding behind the lumber yard. 😂

Only in Gilchrist County...

You wave at people. 👋

People you know.
People you think you know.
People whose truck you recognize but can't remember their name.
And sometimes... people you don't know at all.

Because around here, if somebody passes you on the road, you wave.

It's just what you do.

But if they don't wave back...

Now you've got questions. 🤨

"Who was that?"
"Wasn't that so-and-so's truck?"
"Maybe they didn't see me."
"Well... they could've waved."

And suddenly you've spent the next three miles investigating a social incident that the other driver probably doesn't even know happened. 😂

And to those who've recently moved to our little neck of the woods—welcome! ❤️

There's really not much to learn. Just wave when somebody passes, lend a hand when somebody needs one, and don't be afraid to say hello to a stranger.

We'd like to keep Gilchrist County the kind of place where folks still do those things.

🇺🇸 LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS HERE! 🇺🇸

Ahhh, the three-day weekend…
Three glorious days to relax, grill out, hit the river, visit the springs…

…or stare at that project you’ve been saying you’d get to “when you have time.” 😏

Well. Look who suddenly has time. 😂

Whether the weekend plans involve lumber, screws, tools, plumbing, paint, fencing, fixing something that wasn’t broken until you touched it, or starting a project that will definitely only take a couple hours — GBS can help get you supplied.

🔨 FRIDAY: We’re here and ready to help!
🔨 SATURDAY: Open until 3 PM — get here before the procrastination really sets in.
🇺🇸 SUNDAY: Closed, as usual.
🇺🇸 LABOR DAY — MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7: CLOSED

So grab what you need before Monday, because on Labor Day, we’re taking the “labor” part pretty seriously by not doing any. 😎

🔨 It’s Wednesday. You know what that means.

Somebody, somewhere, is looking around their house thinking:

“I could fix that.”

No. Stop it.

You have work tomorrow. 😂

But we both know how this goes…

Wednesday: “I could fix that.”
Thursday: “I should probably fix that.”
Friday: “I’m gonna fix that.”
Saturday morning: “I need to run to GBS.”

And thus begins another perfectly innocent weekend project that somehow requires lumber, screws, concrete, plumbing fittings, a new tool and three additional trips because somebody said:

“While we’re at it…”

Those five words have probably funded half the building industry. 😂

Luckily, Gilchrist Building Supply is fully prepared to enable this behavior.

We’ve got lumber, hardware, tools, plumbing, electrical, doors, windows, concrete, mobile home supplies, lawn & garden—and plenty of other things you’ll suddenly discover you need once you’ve torn something apart.

So dream big this Wednesday.

Measure twice.

And maybe run the plan by your spouse before you start because we don't endorse lying to your spouse.

We do, however, sell materials for apology projects. 😏

SATURDAYS AT GBS HIT A LITTLE DIFFERENT. 😎🔨

Most of the regular crew is still here.

A couple people are off.
The office staff is gone.
The bosses are gone.

So basically…

the inmates are running the lumber yard. 😂

Don't worry—we still know where everything is.
We still know what we're doing.
And we'll still help you figure out what that mystery part is that somebody sent you to get with the very detailed description of:

"You know… that little thing that goes on the other thing." 🤦‍♂️

The only difference is, on Saturdays there are fewer people around to pretend we're behaving. 😏

So come see the Saturday crew for whatever your weekend project has already made you realize you forgot.

We're here Saturday from 8 AM–3 PM.

And since we're CLOSED SUNDAY, we'd strongly recommend having your “Oh, BBB*… I need one more!” moment before 3:00. 😂

Otherwise, congratulations—you've just turned a Saturday project into a Monday project.

🐶 IT’S NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐶

Today we celebrate the loyal companions who are always willing to help with your latest project.

And by “help,” we mean:

🐾 Steal your work gloves.
🐾 Carry off that scrap of lumber you were actually saving.
🐾 Lay directly where you need to work.
🐾 Bark at a power tool they’ve heard 147 times before.
🐾 Inspect your work, find it questionable, and offer absolutely no solutions.

Basically… management. 😂

So today, give your four-legged foreman an extra treat, a belly rub, and maybe the afternoon off.
