VW Golf R32 cylinder head build complete. It received a full Supertech valvetrain, pocket port, trick valve seat contours, Schrick 268/264° cams, and more. Had a few of these recently; seeing them in my sleep. 😂 Now time to change it up a bit.

A few segments of upgraded Mini N18 head assembly. To the mouth breathers out there about to lose their smooth brains: No. The stem seals are not damaged this way. Those are single radius grooves on the valves with soft corners. Spare me your indignation.

Air hammer fakeout! You thought I was gonna it, didn’t you? 😂 Piggybacking on my story from earlier, 24v VR6 long guides are just about the worst to install. And although I’ve done them successfully before, there’s always a new element of challenge. No two jobs are exactly the same and so I’m continually refining my method. The first three long guides on this head really fought me so I stopped, regrouped, changed a few things, and tried again. The remaining 9 guides went like this: butter. Thanks to for endless good advice.

The things I find. These inner locators are mega tight on the seal unit which contributed to the issue, but that’s the kind of thing that has to be checked ahead of time. The tightness is likely a byproduct of relying on a stamped part to hold up its end of a tight tolerance bargain.
