Well guys what do you think? I ran some test parts through the black oxide shop as a test to see if the benefits are worth the extra cost vs the standard tumbled steel finish.

That said Corrosion has never really been an issue and kind of feel like I am trying to fix something that is. It not broken. Cost wise my 1018cr steel cost around $1.20-$1.50 a pound. The Black oxide coating is
$.073 per pound it is is a significant cost to the cost of goods.

You guys think it is worth the cost. It would add like $20 to the grinder to have the tooling arms, vfd mount and work rest.

Finally the motors are here. Time to get everybody's grinders to them.
Dealing with supply chain issue's is very frustrating when there's nothing you can do about it.

Quick question to customers or any other that read this post. I have been toying with the idea for some time about having the non powder coated steel parts finished in a gloss black oxide coating.

This coating is considered to be a indoor type rust protection. Is this something that is important to you and if so what extra cost would it be worth to you to have theses finished like this.

That would include the tooling arms, the work rest, vfd mount assembly's. I would really like to do this but it's a little more costly than I expected.

Merry Christmas!

Tracking arm supports fresh out of the Mr Deburr. This picture is proof of me being a perfectionist. Nobody send parts out looking this nice just to be powder coated. The Mr deburr was a big expense but I wish I would have done it sooner. Big time and labor savings over my old methods

I try to start each batch of grinders with a clean mill and saw. Unfortunately this got missed on the last batch do to been so busy. The result was about 80 pounds of steels chips that came out of the bottom of the enclosure on my CNC mill. Anyways both the mill and saw got a good cleaning a few days ago. It sure feels nice to work with a clean machine of any type.

This time around I have finally took the time to make stops for each part I make. Now once each of these stops are slid in and locked in place the bar stock in the saw will cut the exact length need for all future batches. Before I had just the stop that came with the saw and had to adjust it for each part I was cutting at the time. This always ended up taking more time then it should have as I am a perfectionist even for a saw cut that will me milled to size.
