We loved seeing these photos of the Great Ape climbing structures at the Detroit Zoo!

This was a fun, challenging, and incredibly rewarding project that gave our team the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Detroit Zoo team, especially the keepers who work directly with the animals, as well as our partners at WholeTrees. Together, we developed more natural climbing and tie-off elements that support the needs of both the great apes and their keepers while meeting OSHA and Detroit Zoo safety standards.

Thanks to WholeTrees for sharing these great photos! We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation with our zoo community at AZA in Portland. See you there!

Welcome Liam Sheff to Equilibrium!

We’re excited to officially welcome Liam Sheff, E.I. to the Equilibrium team as our newest Structural Designer!

Liam graduated from Montana State University in May with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he took the summer to spend time with family and friends in Maine, where he grew up, and traveled to Italy before making his way to Equilibrium.

With a love for the outdoors, Liam enjoys skiing, surfing, hiking, mountain biking, golf, and even a little GeoGuessr. When he’s not working, you’ll most likely find him outside.

As he starts his career at Equilibrium, Liam is most excited to get to know the team and put his structural engineering skills toward work that gives back to the community in a tangible, meaningful way.
