(with help of family and friends) began manufacturing Truck Campers and Lids. During this era, the camper’s interior framing was constructed of white spruce wood and the exterior skin was wrapped with aircraft aluminum. fabricated and sold all aluminum campers too many a Texan and Louisianan. In 1973, we then decided to manufacture our own hand-laid fiberglass truck covers to go along with the “wo
od” framed campers. As the truck industry was growing and the beds of the trucks were no longer the same, the demand of manufacturing many different sizes required us to build many different units. We were not able to keep up with these demands and offer a large variety of inventory for our customers. After twenty-three years of manufacturing campers and lids as a family owned and operated business, we decided to close the manufacturing plant in 1992 to focus on aftermarket accessories for vehicles. In turn, this allowed us to provide truck bed campers and lids from different manufactures such as A.R.E, A.T.C., Jason, and Retrax. In 1984, we started offering aftermarket products and accessories for the truck market. As the truck accessory market became a success we then changed the name of the business to Ayres Inc. We wanted to provide the highest quality product for our customers. We pride ourselves on being able to offer the latest selection of “Truck Toys” that people want. We pride ourselves on being able to say we have the “largest inventory of products in stock” in southeast Texas & southwest Louisiana area! If we don’t have it in stock we can get it for you. During all this time we raised a family of five children. They all learned great work ethics and all worked in the business as they attended school. Our children have all chosen their own career path, while some has fortunately chosen to return to the family business again.
