The County Line project customers came to the Midwest Livestock team to design a flush system in South Dakota that could operate through the winter without freezing. After evaluating several design options, our team developed a fully automated, user-friendly system that flushes manure and sand from the lanes cattle travel throughout the day.

The system recycles water and sand, reducing labor, keeping surfaces cleaner for cattle, and limiting the need for additional equipment. This project also helped demonstrate how flush systems can be adapted for cold-climate dairies.

Congratulations to Marcia Casteel, our Midwest Livestock Impact Award recipient!

Each year, we recognize one of our team members who makes an outstanding impact on our organization and the people around them. In just a year and a half as our HR Generalist, Marcia has made an incredible difference, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her on our team.

Elkader and Zumbrota teamed up to design and build a post-frame, tunnel-ventilated freestall barn, giving 200 fresh cows a dedicated space closer to the existing barns and parlor.

The barn features sand-bedded freestalls, rubber flooring in the drover’s alley, a center drive alley for feeding, and a temperature-controlled ventilation system designed to keep cows comfortable through both summer and winter conditions.

Meet Hazen Loan! He's part of the Drafting and Estimating team. After growing up milking cows for local dairy producers and earning a degree in Agricultural Systems Technology from Iowa State University, Hazen joined Midwest Livestock to help bring farmers’ ideas to life.

Working closely with the sales team, Hazen creates accurate drawings and estimates that help turn customer ideas into complete, functional building projects. His role sets projects up for success while giving producers a clear path from idea to a building that fits their operation.
