I suffer from chronic migraines daily that I developed while serving in the Marines in 1986. They initially started out occasional and at a low to moderate pain level, but have slowly been increasing in frequency and pain level to the point where they are daily and mostly at a high level. For years, I have been using ice packs on the front, sides, or back of my head, depending on the current location of pain (they are not in the same location all the time). I keep several ice packs in the freezer that I rotate out during the day, and some days, they aren't cold enough by the time I swap them out again. I asked the VA about supplying ice packs, which they do not, but recently my pharmacist suggested the ThermaZone. She sent me to the web site and explained what she could on how it works.
I got my new ThermaZone a couple of days ago and can't praise it high enough. No more swapping out ice packs every 20 minutes, having to lay down and try to get it to stay in a specific location, or tying something around my head to get it to that right spot. (Yes I have looked like a cartoon character trying to soothe a toothache sometimes) With ThermaZone, I can sit up and do things with my hands free, move around, and try to be a little active while managing my pain. No more having to lie down or sit in that weird position for hours.
The device heats or cools, and I use the cool setting. Levels are 0-10 which I have been staying around 6. Once it hits that temperature, it stays at that temperature. No dripping from ice pack, or freezing my hand holding one on my temple. Just put on the comfortable pad, get it in a secure position, and enjoy the relief. The ThermaZone makes very little noise so it doesn't disturb you while trying to sleep or on the phone. The very lightweight water lines are about 6 feet, and the power cord is about another 12 feet altogether, so you have quite a bit of mobility available while using it. The ThermaZone is maybe a little heavier than a hairdryer and has a nice carrying handle. I can't recommend this enough if you suffer from migraines.
