We are sold out of queens for the week. If you’re in need of some, please let us know. We will pick queens up again Wednesday morning, just like clock work.
Dan Williams said we have @5 weeks of queens left before he shuts down his operation for the season.

Also Mo is waiting for class to start today so he can see lots of his “friends”.

Unfortunately due to storm damage, bad weather, and power outages (hopefully we get power back soon!) we are going to have to postpone this weekends field days. We are rescheduling for next weekend, August 22 and 23. We hope to see everyone then!

As of today, the following roads are still closed around us:
US 50
Monterey Maple
Hutchison
Brushy Fork
Weaver on the Bergen side

They are starting to cut trees off of the roads and following that, they have a lot of electric poles to replace and wires to run so roads will still be closed with work trucks. We really have no idea when power will be restored, but we are thinking the first part of next week.

We are still around if you need something, you just have to take the long way to get to us.

We are excited to be a part of our counties podcast. Bob, the host, was able to stop out a couple of weeks ago and talk with us about bees, honey, how we got began this unique "side" business and how it's greatly impacted our community and beyond. It officially airs this even at 7pm eastern time. You can also tune in later to their library and other podcast Bob and his team have done over the past several years highlighting our unique Clermont County Ohio. Thank you Bob for stopping out and saying hello to the bees. We enjoyed it!

People don't always think about how much of an impact bees have on Clermont County's beautiful ecology. Learn about how one couple is doing there part to ethically farm bees in a neighborhood near you.

A new episode of "Good Day Clermont!" airs this Wednesday at 7 p.m.

A quick update: ST RT 50 is also closed just West of Owensville near Patterson Park. We traveled all of Belfast Owensville & then west on 131 to Milford without issues. Everything else we mentioned earlier is still closed but a we can see a LOT more damage now that the sun came up. Prayers to those with storm damage.

We also received a call in Milford of a Bee tree that split. We will work on saving these girls as soon as the rain stops. Then the tree guys can go in and get the tree off the customers home.

Last nights rash of storms ripped through the area leaving storm damage mostly from trees everywhere. A LOT of roads are still currently closed. leaving this morning to pick up Queen’s, we had to turn around many times as large trees are still across the road. Our electric has been out, but we have a generator. There are currently 150,000+ w/o power so we are not alone.

We plan on being open today and in between customers, cleanup debris, and pick things up from the wind. This includes our beloved tulip popular tree which we host classes under. It took out a good portion of the one side but luckily did not damage the main trunk, just twisted off branches. We will just have to climb up and trim things off.

We will update again when we have more information. Last night a lot of people were traveling home from the west so I would assume 131 to Belfast to our road, Bergen is open. First to everyone affected by the storms nationwide.

It's that time of year for our Clermont county fair parade today. The town of Owensville will be packed full of floats, bands, fire trucks and lots of candy being tossed at mostly kids. Parade begins at 1 and they usually block the roads off at @1250 ish until . If your headed our way, we have some alternative rounds that will offer you some scenic driving and only adds a couple of minutes to your drive. We are open as usual, 10-5.

Apiguard! We have some that is a little out of date for less $ than we paid for it (hate to see it go to waste) and a lot that won’t expire for 2 years. It’s been stored in our temperature controlled shop year around. This is in store only purchase.

This has been our go to summer treatment for the last 8 years and we will use this slightly expired Apiguard on our @200 hives this week as we get honey supers pulled.

We also have plenty of Varroxsan, Norroa & Formic (though that’s best used in cooler temps).

Class will go on today & tomorrow! Storms are supposed to start , that's plenty of time to do hive inspections @2 and have some sitting in the shade time for Q&A afterwards, thanks to our giant Tulip Poplar tree. Hives maintain their brood boxes 96-98 deg, now we know what they are dealing with, lol.
101 topics include but not limited to:
lighting a smoker, evaluating queen patterns, looking at their stores of pollen & honey, do you need to feed?
