Carbon Resistors circa 1950-60. These are mostly NOS (New Old Stock) that I found at an estate sale several years ago. Many vintage audio electronics Technicians prefer this type of Carbon Resistor vs the modern Aluminum Foil Wrap type of Resistor. Many believe that the Carbon Resistors contribute to the rich smooth tone, especially of Tube Amps, but that is a debatable personal opinion. I just think they look cool, and since they're basically "new" (never used), I like to use them when I have them. Carbon Resistors tend increase in Ohmic (resistive) value as they age in a circuit, mostly due to heat, so it is important to check the values of Carbon Resistors when working on vintage electronics, especially sensitive audio circuits. Modern Aluminum Foil Wrap Resistors tend to maintain a much more consistent value no matter how old they are. Some say that the Aluminum Resistors cause the tone of audio circuits to be more "sterile", and stripped of character. I'm an old Punk Rocker; I don't really worry about it too much. I like it loud, and I like some Reverb.

Kellen & Izzy, my son's friends, jamming on a couple of LuNi Amps. They took one downstairs and played it for hours. I dig it! I love watching and listening while people enjoy my amps.
