Some projects are measured in more than square footage and cost-to-complete. They’re measured in meaning, and we can’t think of more appropriate project to spotlight on Memorial Day.

Buzick was honored to work on the Pavilion at Nelson County Veterans Park in Bardstown. This park was built as a testament to the courage and dedication of local heroes, and is meant to bring people together in reflection, remembrance, and community.

Collaborating closely with Glue-Lam Erectors, Inc., Team Buzick balanced vision with real-world constructability, coordinated structural demands, and ensured every element from foundation to frame performed exactly as intended for the laminated timber-framed pavilion. The result is a landmark structure that mirrors the strength and permanence of the memorials surrounding it, as well as the brave men and women who came before it.

Buzick doesn’t partner lightly.

When workmanship is non-negotiable and long-term public safety is at stake, trust and credibility must be earned before the first piece of equipment ever hits the site. That’s why our partnership with Hornback Construction on bridge work makes sense.

Bridges do more than span water, terrain, or distance. They connect people to jobs, schools, homes, agriculture, and communities that depend on safe passage every day.

Like us, Hornback believes there are no shortcuts and no excuses when it comes to bridge projects. The work demands disciplined ex*****on, structural integrity, and a deep respect for what these structures are built to carry.

That’s the kind of partner we trust and the kind of work we’re proud to stand behind.

Some traditions start long before the bottle is ever sealed.

Yesterday, several members of Team Buzick gathered at Bardstown Bourbon Company for one of our favorite annual traditions—a private barrel pick that will eventually become holiday gifts for the clients, partners, and employees who help make this company what it is.

Barrel picks are slow, deliberate, and rooted in instinct earned over time. Some barrels leaned heavy into oak and spice, while others carried softer notes of caramel and fruit. But one stood above the rest: bold, balanced, and built to last, just like Buzick.

Months from now, it will be bottled and gifted as a gesture of appreciation. But the tradition starts now, inside a rickhouse with a thief, a tasting glass, and a group of people who understand that the best things in bourbon, and in business, are still built through patience, trust, and good company.

“When it came time for Wilderness Trail Distillery to build rickhouses for our barrel production, we narrowed it down to using Buzick Construction. We felt they had the best rickhouse design, overall capability and flexibility to match our growing needs.

We started out with a small two story 1,200-barrel rickhouse over a decade ago but built with traditional big scale design. We quickly started another unique size of 10,000 barrels, and then on to multiple 20,000-24,000-barrel rickhouses over time.

The most amazing part of that long relationship was working with Tom and Donald Blincoe. I attribute part of our success in being able to scale quickly and mature great whiskey in the best natural way to the expertise of everyone at Buzick.”

Team Buzick approaches every project as a legacy structure, not just for our clients, but for the surrounding land and communities.

Whenever possible, we coordinate site grading, equipment placement, and material staging to preserve existing agriculture zones, maintain soil health, and protect water quality without sacrificing schedules or budgets.

Today, on , and every day that follows, we believe being good environmental stewards during construction is an essential part of rising to meet modern challenges, reducing waste, and laying the groundwork for a more responsible build.

The future of any industry Buzick serves depends on more than just what we build. It depends on how we show up off the job site.

Buzick is honored to support the Kentucky Distillers’ Association and the Kentucky Coalition for Responsible Alcohol and Substance Misuse Education program. Launched three years ago, RASME is a growing coalition helping colleges and universities across the Commonwealth build a culture of responsibility, awareness, and support around alcohol and substance use.

From campus wellness fairs and recovery programs to hands-on education and prevention training, this initiative is reaching students where they are and giving them the tools to make better decisions.

For us, building responsibly doesn’t stop at the jobsite. It means standing with partners like Kentucky Bourbon who invest in people, strengthen communities, and take ownership of the impact they leave behind.

Buzick believes in a “speak up, stay safe” culture on construction sites because hazards don’t hide when people are heard.

Our hazard reporting system was developed to protect, not punish. No one risks their job or reputation by raising a concern, because we know the best solutions often come from the people closest to the work. That openness allows us to solve problems before they ever become accidents and strengthens the trust that keeps Buzick crews working as one. 🚧

Founded in 1856 by Ben Holladay, Kentucky native and the famed ‘Stagecoach King,’ the Holladay Distillery has outlasted empires, pauses in production, and generations of change to become Missouri’s oldest distillery.

After using the same limestone water and original 1856 recipe to revive bourbon production in 2016 , Holladay Distillery entered a new chapter. Warehouse D came online at the end of 2025 and is the first rickhouse built on site in over 60 years. It was designed and built to support production expansion from day one with a storage capacity of 11,000 barrels.

At Buzick, we believe in preserving bourbon history by giving it room to age. Thank you to the entire Holladay Distillery team and Al J. Mueller Construction for the opportunity to help build such a special project!
