While on a roll here. Lets talk B/Os
I have placed 2 orders to the UK in 3 days. The first had 22 lines of parts the were B/O with no ETA and 6 lines of partial shipment. The second had 18 lines of B/O's and 5 lines of partial shipment. That means I will be out of 40+ lines of parts on the shelf. When placing orders to me this will mean that I will not be able to fill 100% for some of you. Just like in the old days when I first started in this business, it took at least 3-5 vendors to fill an an order for customers. I never liked that and not liking it now. Just want you all to know B/O's are not necessarily my fault.
I inserted this picture just for fun.

Ok Folks!
Special order items that go on B/O -back order( for those that do not know what B/O means) are non cancelable unless our vendor cancels them to us. Back order are orders where the vendor does not have the item in stock or his vendor does not have the item in stock. NON Cancelable - that means when it comes in you own it, no matter how long the order takes.
YOU cannot chargeback these items - you own them whenever they come in. When you place your order, I place my order with the vendor in the UK and sometimes they place an order with their vendor. When that item comes in you will receive it. WHEN is the key word. I cannot say the due date of WHEN. This is a age old problem that cannot be solved with charging the sale back.
A chargeback is not a good thing for the seller. Most of you will not understand what hell we sellers go through with credit card companies for customers who chargeback. A chargeback for those who don't know is when you tell your credit card company the the seller was a flake and screwed up your order now you want your money back.
How can I say it. Please do not chargeback a special order item that is on order but not here yet. I can only do so much and I cannot always give updates for you other the WHEN as my vendors to not give time lines to us. WHEN is the ultimate answer that I can give you.
We are dealing with 50+ year old cars and we are dealing with old time manufacturers in the UK and even simple items take time to get. Patience is the key to having a good relationship with your car, with your parts guy, with his parts guy and with the ultimate manufacturer. So WHEN will you get it? WHEN is somewhere between 2 days and 2 years.

Back orders! Back order are high this year. I am not sure what is happening in the UK with vendors and manufacturers. My back order lists are larger than my ship lists. I do know some manufacturers have closed shop and some manufacturers are discontinuing classic car parts for their product lines. This makes ordering parts a whole new ball game. New in the sense that every order requires 10 vendors to fill all the items we require. Then every part is not identical to our specification and needs. So, please bear with us as we work hard to cover you specific parts needs. IT ain't alway us that is holding up your projects, we are getting held up also.

What a strange year. I am not sure I understand. I do, however, understand that life throws curve balls and you have to catch them. I am wondering (outloud here) if taking credit cards is safe any more with the benefits that both Venmo and Zelle offer. I see the TV networks even show signs that credit cards are not safe for vendors, and sellers. What with the high amount of chargebacks going around sellers are getting hit pretty hard with these thieves. We have had two major ones this year. Hurts in more ways than just losing the money. Losing product that is hard to come by, really hurts especially when some else could use it. The American public has found a new "smash & grab". I have not commented on this before as I do not believe the majority of you feel this way. The few that do are ruining it for the rest of you. I would like to hear your feedback on using Zelle and Venmo only and not accepting credit cards. Maybe Apple /Android/Google Pay?

Please comment your feelings.

What's on my Mind? That is the question that Facebook asks when you want to post something. What is on my mind, that is a very good question. This summer with the heat being well over 100 degrees and the AC deciding to quit has raised questions. With temps about 95 degrees in my office until the AC guy got here got me thinking. A couple weeks ago, I took a day off, closed the shop, told Sheldon not to come in and got to see a bit of the outside world. Sandy and I did something that I have not done in years. I enjoyed myself immensely. That day was my 75 trip around the sun and I decided I like doing stuff besides cars. What is around the world and what is going on in America that I have not seen. You can't beat doing fun things. Cars are just tin and rubber and they grow harder and harder to deal with. Old cars are fun and easy to deal with, but do I want to deal with them any more? I just don't know. So, all this said, makes me wonder why I do this. Ol Phartz Partz is my baby, no one else's. It is a creation of my mind and imagination. It has been fun thinking up stuff and playing around making new parts for old cars. Now my question, do I want to do this the rest of my life on this planet? How would I get someone to see the inside of my mind and take over for me. The inside is a terrible place that never stops, day and night, I seem to find things that need to done, need to be built and I find that fascinating. Would anyone else feel the same way? I don't know.
Well, here is an idea. Would anyone else like to see the inside of my inner workings and play with British car parts. Step up make a call and tell me what you think. What your ideas are.
Here are some fotos of the shop

I had a bad review that I noticed tonight. An item we purchase from the UK. Easy for us to purchase from a Morris vendor than look around to find out if it is available in the US. So, are we wrong in sourcing an item from a known vendor instead us going out of our way to see if someone else can save us $.10 on the dollar. Not my thing to do, spend my whole evening to source an item I already know where to get. Interior panels may cost a bit more than the local blacksmith charges but I know the quality of the original vendor in the UK, I don't know how good the local guy is. So, yes sir you paid more here than the local company that had a similar item but I did not have to charge you for time spent finding it in the US. By the way, I do love to source items in the US as long as they are the same as items from the UK.

Going through the website tonight looking at reviews. Nice to see what people think of our service and work. Nice also to find where our bad services lie. Well, we have room for improvement. However that said, when you purchase an item on the web, it may not always be in stock. Now, some of our product has to come from the UK and we are dealing with a whole list of obstacles. Some of that requires time, a lot of time. We do strive to ship stuff in a timely manner. Sometimes back orders hurt the "timely manner" that I so wish we could be shipping everything. This year I would say we have a better than 50% back order rate from the UK. When do come in they come in in big bunches. Back orders from months back and back orders for a few days ago. Right now we have back orders for over a year. Will we see the items, maybe, can we hope maybe. We keep trying though. One thing that I wish we had time for was contacting customer on a daily or weekly basis to inform them of these back orders. Most of the time we here at Ol Phartz Partz do not have an answer to when stuff will arrive. Hard to tell a customer I truly don't know when it will arrive. Keep the faith people and trust that we are trying our best to get items in a appropriate amount of time.
