It's here! The Washington Post utilized video created from MechE Senior Design interviews with Reuters to showcase the design and need for a prosthetic that can adjust to women's heel heights.

Johns Hopkins University engineering students built a prosthetic foot that adjusts to fit heels up to four inches high. They hope their invention will help change lives for women who've lost a leg or foot to amputation.

Lights, Camera, Action! Recent graduates Patrick 'Joey' Tilson '16 and Katelyn Koons '16 spoke with a producer with Thomson Reuters today about their team's senior design project - an adjustable prosthetic foot that allows the user (primarily female amputees) to adjust it in order to accommodate different heel heights.

Check out this story by Fox News that showcases one of this year's projects! Congratulations to Team WRVL - Clara Aranguren '17, Luke Brown '16, Devin Holladay '16, Benjamin Keyser '16, Katelyn Koons '16, and Patrick 'Joey' Tilson '16 on your hard work in making this project a success.

Women who get a prosthetic foot after losing a leg to disease or injury have limited shoe options, but an invention by five Johns Hopkins University students may change that.

Just about everyone dreads colonoscopies, though we all know that eventually that at least one is in our future. The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab wants to help make the procedure a little easier.

They have asked Team RIZK - Michelle Camacho, Hunt Griffith, Alex Kearns, and Engineering Design Process junior assistants Rodrigo de Costa and Thomas Keady - to develop a safer and more comfortable device to guide the insertion and prevent accidental medical complications. The team has created several prototypes that can be further developed and used in future procedures.

In missions, soldiers sometimes have to descend quickly from a hovering craft in heights up to 90 feet on a rope! There are all kinds of safety hazards facing the soldiers in that situation.

The Air Force Research Lab is sponsoring a multi-university contest to solicit designs to eliminate those hazards.

Team AFRL - Teo Gaudin, Rachel Hegeman, Ari Messenger, Christian Richardson and Engineering Design Process junior assistants Amanda Canezin and Kevin LeBlanc - created an irrigated wet rope design intended to reduce friction and heat and to allow easier gripping.
