Spears/Votta & Associates, Inc. has been awarded the evaluation of the central heating water system serving the seven (7) building Spartan Commons complex at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey Pennsylvania. The evaluation includes the boiler plant, secondary distribution system and the tertiary distribution system and terminal equipment in all connected buildings. Milton Hershey School is a cost-free, private, co-residential school and home for children from lower income families offering state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology and hundreds of extracurricular activities to over 2,000 students from across the united states. https://www.mhskids.org/

Recently obtained BGE Smart Energy Savers Program Approval Letter for a substantial rebate through the Prescriptive Application process for the installation of a nominal 610 ton water cooled centrifugal chiller for Sheppard Pratt Health System Weinberg Building at the Towson Campus.

SVA's employees are enjoying "Summer Hours" of 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 7 am to 11 am on Fridays. They really appreciate a little extra time with their family on Friday afternoons. Hours will continue through Labor Day. Enjoy your summer!

Before and after shots from wind storm damage in March 2018. We lost two 3-story tall pine trees that have probably been there for 100 years - first one and then the other. They couldn't have fallen more "perfectly." Very thankful for no significant damage.

SVA celebrates with Church of the Nativity and Lewis Contractors who won the ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) Baltimore Award of Excellence for projects $10M and larger. SVA provided M/E/P engineering services for this project.

Yesterday was a very fulfilling day here at SVA! We heard from a neighbor who said there was a large white bunny hopping around under the cars in our parking lot. So of course we went out there to see what was going on. He was definitely someone's pet - an albino Giant Flemish rabbit. We were able to corner him and catch him. He spent the day in the office with us in a cardboard box (it was tough to find one big enough!). We went across the street to Petco to get him some food and a water bottle at lunchtime. The ad we posted on the Next Door Neighborhood app was answered around 4 pm yesterday and we reunited "Patrick Swayze" with his family! See the screen shot of replies to his Owner praising SVA for their help. It was a happy ending just before Easter and we were so glad to be a part of it and help our neighbors! Happy Easter to all!!🐇🐇🐇

SVA hosted the Baltimore Section, Illuminating Engineering Society on Wednesday, March 14 for a tour of their recent project at Church of the Nativity in Timonium. Rich Williams of SVA offered a presentation on the lighting, lighting controls, daylight harvesting, daylighting control with motorized shades, as well as economic aspects of the project. Mike Hamilton of the Church presented a demonstration of the DMX theatrical lighting control system and its capabilities as well as on the theatrical lighting design for the Altar. The 40 or so IES attendees were then offered a tour of the new building.

Richard Williams, SVA Vice President, teaches the Illuminating Engineering Society Lighting Design classes for the IES Baltimore Section at Morgan State University. The Fundamentals of Lighting Class is presently under way. Future classes:

Construction is nearing completion on the Banner Hill Apartment building in downtown, Baltimore. The mechanical and plumbing systems were designed by designed by Spears/Votta & Associates, Inc. with Beatty Harvey Coco Architects, LLC. The building includes 349 studio, one and two bedroom apartments, a heated outdoor pool, business area, ports simulation station, dog wash, and underground parking.

Spears/Votta & Associates is beginning the design of the latest renovation in the National Park Seminary complex in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Power Plant, Practice Hall and Fire House buildings will be turn into fourteen (14) high end apartment/condominium units.

The construction for the renovation of the Gymnasium Building was completed in 2015 and won the 2015 Montgomery County Award for Residential Historic Preservation.
