Here's something contractors don't say out loud nearly enough: the fabricator you pick early in a project has more influence on your timeline than almost any other decision you'll make.

We've seen it go both ways. A well-run fab shop with certified welders, current procedure qualifications, and real custom capability can compress schedules, flag constructability issues before they hit the field, and deliver shop drawings that ironworkers can actually build from. The other kind? You find out what's missing at the worst possible moment.

Heavy structural steel isn't a commodity purchase. AISC standards, AWS D1.1 welding codes, material certifications, dimensional inspections, all of it matters, and all of it has to be documented before the steel ever leaves the shop.
