Standard GPR works well for locating utilities, but mapping fractured shale beneath asphalt to prevent massive blasting delays is a far tougher challenge.
In Victoria, BC, unpredictable bedrock along Sunheights Drive threatened to inflate excavation budgets. Inconsistent borehole data and low contrast between soil layers caused standard automated GPR software to fail.
To solve this, Bigman Geophysical combined advanced tech with expert analysis:

Multichannel 3D Acquisition: Captured dense, parallel datasets using an IDS StreamC GPR array.
Advanced Signal Processing: Converted raw pulses into 3D time-slices with GPR Slice V. 7.0 software.
