How did the DTF Station Prestige R2 Pro perform after sitting idle for 12 days?

We put it to the test.

After being away on vacation, we came back to our R2 Pro and ran our standard startup procedure to see how the printer would recover — especially the white printheads, since clogged white ink is one of the most common concerns in DTF printing.

Our plan was simple:

If it struggled, we would show the recovery process.
If it performed well, we would show the real results.

The good news? It did great.

After startup, the nozzle check showed only minimal clogging — well below the manufacturer’s recommended maximum — and no major recovery was needed.

Then we printed a full-color patriotic DTF transfer to show the printer back in action.

Not every garment should be pressed the same way.

Performance wear, 100% polyester, tri-blends, athletic jerseys, moisture-wicking shirts, and premium garments can be more sensitive to heat than standard cotton tees.

That’s where low-melt DTF transfers make a big difference.

Low-temp application, typically around 260°F–280°F, can help reduce the risk of:

✅ Dye migration
✅ Scorching
✅ Shine or press marks
✅ Fabric marring
✅ Damage to expensive specialty garments

Why Post-Pressing DTF Transfers Matters

DTF heat press application is not finished just because the first press is complete.

For many DTF transfers, the final press — often called the post-press or finishing press — is one of the most important steps in the application process.

Post-pressing helps improve the feel, finish, edge bonding, adhesion, and long-term performance of the transfer. It can also help reduce a plastic-like surface feel and create a more professional finished garment.

One of the most important steps in heat press application is the pre-press — pressing the blank garment before applying the DTF transfer.

It is a simple step, but it can make a major difference in how the transfer applies, bonds, feels, and performs.

Pre-pressing prepares the garment.
Pressing bonds the transfer.
Post-pressing finishes the job.

If you skip the pre-press, you may be starting the application with moisture, wrinkles, uneven fibers, and poor surface contact.
