Even before a load in "in the air", there is so many things that need to happen before beginning a project.

Here is a pre-Lift Checklist:

πŸ“œ Permits & Logistics: Secure NYC Street Closing Permits and coordinate with DOT/Expediter services.
πŸ“ Engineering: Finalize all PE, MTA, and engineered drawings for a settled lift plan.
πŸ”’ Safety Teams: Deploy Certified Flaggers, Flagmen, and Pedestrian Managers to secure the perimeter.
βš™οΈ Equipment Prep: Inspect the specialized mechanical shifting equipment, cables, and hooks.
πŸš› Fleet Selection: Ensure the right truck-mounted crane is locked in, with options ranging from 5 Ton to 600 Ton.
πŸ‘· Master Rigger Oversight: Confirm the Master Rigger has reviewed the Statement of Work (SOW), schedules, and safety diagrams.

Ex*****on is only as good as the preparation behind it. Behind every smooth lift is a meticulous plan that started long before the crane ever arrived on site. πŸ’ͺ🏼

How do world class art museums manage complex climate controls and dust strategies?

Trust, prep, and communication keep facilities running smoothly.

The key thing for facilities managers to know is that protecting high-value spaces relies on establishing a reliable baseline for your building's environment and trusting expert vendors to execute precise work without disrupting daily operations.

Having done work for MOMA ( Museum of Modern Art), we know what it takes to execute high-stakes, precision engineering for such institutions.

When it comes to swapping or installing heavy infrastructure on a tight NYC footprint, there is no room for error.

Every inch and every moment matters! πŸ“

⏱️ That is why we take time to meticulously plan our projects to ensure they execute flawlessly.

🎭 Summer in NYC is defined by its iconic cultural moments, and free Shakespeare in the Park is officially back. Performances of 'Romeo & Juliet' kick off this week, bringing world-class theater straight to our local parks.

While actors take center stage, we can't help but appreciate the massive logistical coordination, structural planning, and heavy lifting required to build temporary outdoor stages across the city. From blueprint to final performance, safety and ex*****on are everything.

Key Takeaways:

🌟 Iconic NYC Return: 'Romeo & Juliet' begins its free outdoor performance run this week.

πŸ—οΈ Behind-the-Scenes Mastery: Large public installations require complex structural setup, safety planning, and seamless project coordination.

πŸ—½ Community First: This beloved tradition highlights the coordination required to bring professional art directly to public spaces safely.

Every Facilities Manager, Mechanical Contractor, and Project Manager knows that a job site is only as efficient as its material handling. Today, we take the humble forklift for granted, but its evolution completely transformed the logistics and construction industries.

Before the early 20th century, moving heavy goods meant pure manual labor, simple hoists, and basic hand-trucks. That all changed during World War I. With a severe labor shortage, companies had to innovate.

➑️ 1917: The Clark Tructractor company created the "Tructractor," a gas-powered shop buggy designed to haul materials around their axle factory. Visitors saw it, wanted one for themselves, and industrial material handling was born.

➑️ 1920s: Hydraulic power was introduced, allowing the platform to lift loads vertically, not just haul them horizontally.

➑️ 1930s: Standardized pallets were introduced. This matched perfectly with the standardized spacing of the forks, cementing the forklift as an industry staple.

At United Rigging, we appreciate the history of the tools that keep NYC moving. Forklifts are essential, but when your project scales past standard material handling into true industrial rigging, you need specialized expertise.

True rigging is the act of moving, unloading, loading, or securing heavy or bulky goods using specialized mechanical shifting equipment. It requires strict adherence to safety rules, precise documentation, and master labor protection.
