One of the questions we hear all the time is: "How do I know what size tractor I actually need?"

The answer isn't just about how many acres you have.

We like to start with what you actually need to get done. Are you mowing, moving dirt, clearing brush, moving hay, or using different attachments? Your terrain and the jobs you have planned all matter.

We also think about what you might want the tractor to do a few years from now. Nobody wants to outgrow their tractor right after buying it.

We use this equipment ourselves, so we'd much rather talk through your property and your plans than simply point you toward a horsepower number.

Around here, fall is when we start thinking about getting equipment ready for the wet months ahead.

If your tractor, mower, or implements have been working hard all summer, now is a good time to give them a quick once-over.

A few things we like to check:

• Fluid levels and leaks
• Belts and hoses
• Batteries and electrical connections
• Grease points and moving parts
• PTO shafts and three-point hitch components

And don't forget about hay equipment. Cleaning it up, checking for worn parts, and taking care of needed service now can save you from finding a problem when you're ready to get back to work next spring.

A little attention now can save a lot of frustration later, and our service and maintenance team is here to offer help when you need it.

In the PNW, you don't have to wonder when the fall rains are coming. The real question is whether your property is ready for them.

Now is a good time to take a look at your fields and pastures before everything gets wet.

Check drainage areas, clear leaves and debris from ditches and low spots, and take care of problem areas before they turn into mud pits. If you have equipment work to do, getting it done while the ground is still firm can also help keep your tractor from getting stuck or making a bigger mess.

The right attachments can make fall cleanup a lot easier too, whether you're moving debris, maintaining pastures, clearing brush, or keeping access roads in shape.

A little preparation now can make a big difference once the rain starts.

Our latest blog tackles a question we hear from tractor owners all the time: "Does working on my own tractor void the warranty?"

The short answer? Not automatically.

We recently had a customer who does his own service work and installed several accessories on his tractor. When his three-point hitch stopped working, the problem turned out to be a valve inside the rockshaft housing. The warranty claim was approved because the issue had nothing to do with his work.
