Kubota's 2027 lineup brings a fully redesigned BX series. It now comes in standard, deluxe and premium models, and the new LA405 loader adds 25% more lift capacity. Construction updates include the SSV65-2S skid steer, the SVL85-3 track loader and the KX018 excavator. LOADER ARM DESIGN:
A rugged loader arm design with long reach and high bucket hinge pin height, this proven loader arm design with vertical geometry can push and dig as well as a radial machine. It's reinforced in all the right areas, including critical connections to the coupler and rear cross bar. It is designed to be a work horse.

The McFarlane Incite 5124 is a universal vertical tillage tool built for crop residue management and seedbed preparation. Front and rear disc gangs run opposite directions and can be set up to 9 degrees of aggression, with a 7-inch spacing in the front row and approximately 3 to 3.5 inches of offset between front and rear rows for aggressive residue chopping. The discs are intentionally set to run deeper than the rear reel to maximize ground pe*******on, and the machine's weight alone is enough to get it into the ground without added ballast.

Rear finishing options include double rolling baskets, a single basket with a harrow, or Spur-Till treaders depending on the application. Depth gauges for both reel height and disc depth are visible from the cab, and the machine runs comfortably between 7 and 9 mph without the washboarding effect that can plague lighter competitive units. A tractor in the 190 to 280 horsepower range is recommended to pull it effectively at those speeds.

A $50 tote of firewood sitting at the end of the driveway tells only part of the story. For the person burning it, that wood is worth closer to $150 in equivalent heating costs. For the person splitting it, the value is harder to put on a spreadsheet — property cleanup, outdoor exercise, time away from screens, and the kind of working-together moments with kids that are hard to manufacture any other way.

This one covers the honest reasons people get into firewood, from the purely practical to the personal. Teaching kids the connection between work and the things they want, talking through equipment safety while actually using it, and finding an excuse to run good machinery at the end of a long day are all part of it. There is a subset of people doing firewood professionally and making a real living at it — but there is a bigger group that just enjoys being outside, sweating a little, and having something to show for it.
