White River Overland

White River Overland White River Overland (WRO) is a professional van, truck and trailer outfitter based in Aspen, Colorado and surrounded by the White River National Forest.

Born from a love of adventure travel, camping, mountain biking, skiing and backcountry touring, WRO was formed by 2, longtime Roaring Fork Valley locals with a shared vision of creating capable adventure vans and outfitting overland vehicles. Locals know us for our top-of-the-line van conversions and truck conversions, built to tackle the rugged terrain in our backyard. Supporting an open, respons

ive and transparent dialogue with each client, our goal is to exceed expectations by completing projects on a timely basis without compromising the quality of work. From custom builds to our proven designs, WRO is able to tailor projects to specific applications and budgets.

Project update! This 170” Sprinter is getting a full makeover. We’re building out custom rear storage with teak detailing for hauling and charging this customer’s e-foil boards, adding rear bike carriers and a storage box, a custom microwave cabinet upfit, and a full trailer setup for hauling gear, sleeping, and hanging out at camp.

She’ll be living out of this rig for 2+ months, so we’re getting everything dialed for adventure.

Stay tuned for a full walkaround soon!

Finding free dispersed campsites in Colorado is one of the best parts about owning an overland van or vehicle.

With millions of acres of BLM and National Forest land open to dispersed camping, you don’t need a reservation or a campsite fee to spend a night in the mountains. You just need to know the rules, use the right tools, and do a little planning before you head out.

We put together a full guide covering our go-to apps (Gaia GPS and onX Offroad), free resources like the USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps, and a step-by-step process we use when planning a trip.

Quick walk-around of this INEOS Grenadier we just wrapped up.

Kept it clean and super functional:
Starlink Mini integrated so it stays connected off-grid
Wolfbox Pro G900 for rear visibility + recording
Rotopax and Maxtrax mounted to the side molle panel
Nacho Nano rear scene lights for visibility at camp
Upgraded Factor 55 winch hook to round it out

Nothing overbuilt—just a solid, well-thought-out setup that makes the rig more usable.

The owner’s psyched to get it out on some local Aspen trails, and this thing is honestly a perfect platform for it. The Grenadier is already crazy capable… this just pushes it further.

Thank you to Bryan Welker and Stefan le Roux from and the for this feature!

They sat down with Scott to talk about organic growth and the perseverance and determination behind 30 years of building Cracks & Racks — learning what it takes to survive, adapt, and stay in control in a town that doesn’t forgive complacency — and how White River Overland came to be to fill a niche in the outdoor vehicle recreation space in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.

The full feature “Beyond the Algorithm: You can’t take your foot off the gas” is now live on the Aspen Times. Link in bio.
