Scott-Taylor began their sawmill and lumber distribution in 1887, the location where Carlson Building Supplies now stands. Scott Taylor Company produced a good portion of the structural lumber for buildings for Ashland, WI around the early 1900's. What started as a

sawmill and kiln and distributor has grown into what we focus on today, continuing to serve our customers and providing premium products. In 1980, local contractor Boyd Carlson saw a need for more affordable building supplies in the Ashland area, so he started Carlson Building Supplies. He really viewed it as a ministry, not just a business; he truly wanted to help people. Grandsons Ben and Josh Illick carry on that legacy by providing homeowners and contractors with premium building materials. New boom truck in motion! Everybody is getting the hang of it too! Having a smaller frame boom truck allows for ALL yard employees to drive and operate the boom truck for deliveries. This way it’s less hand unloading and easier to get you your materials when you need it!

Thanks to Lydia & John for installing a pop of color to our two newest fleet vehicles! LG’s Little Dumper (our 12’ dump bed), and our new 18’ Boom truck!

Great thing with the new boom truck, is it’s rated as such that any of our staff can drive and operate it, without needing a specialized Class A or B certification. That means we always have someone in the yard to deliver material to you, even if you don’t have equipment on site.
