Some pumps are built for water. Progressive cavity pumps are built for everything water pumps cannot handle.
Thick, abrasive, shear sensitive, high viscosity, full of solids. That is the everyday reality for a lot of the media moving through wastewater plants, food and beverage lines, and industrial processes across the country. A centrifugal pump asked to move that kind of fluid will struggle, wear fast, or fail outright.
Wood Equipment Company is proud to represent NETZSCH, one of the names that solved that problem best.
A helical rotor turning inside a stator forms a series of sealed cavities that progress steadily from suction to discharge, carrying fluid at a constant rate with minimal pulsation and low shear. That is why progressive cavity technology performs where centrifugal and even many rotary lobe designs cannot:
Near pulsation free flow, critical for dosing and metering Gentle handling of shear sensitive media Solids and fibrous material handling that would tear apart other pump types A wide viscosity range from near water thin to barely flowing Self priming and dry run tolerant designs
Rotor and stator selection is where performance is won or lost, and that is where distributor support earns its keep.
We wrote up how NETZSCH shows up on the floor across wastewater and biosolids, food and beverage, and industrial process applications, and what we add on the application engineering, parts, and training side:
