Asheville Tool Library The Asheville Tool Library is like a normal library but instead of books you get to check out tools! Asheville Tool Library is a 501c3 nonprofit.

Mission: The Asheville Tool Library provides low cost access to a wide range of tools, literature, and knowledge to citizens of Asheville and its surrounding communities. The volunteer-driven project aims to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship and community development in Western NC. Vision: The Asheville Tool Library envisions a resilient, skilled, and engaged community with direct access to the tools and resources necessary for a thriving, regenerative culture.

Keep your clothing out of the landfills by giving them a facelift with professional, safe dyes! Taught by , you will learn about dye chemistry, how patterns are made, and choose from a variety of patterns and manipulations to dye your items. BYO dyeable items or purchase an Asheville Tool Library t-shirt to dye and take home with you while supplies last.

Bring a plastic bag large enough to hold items for safe transport home. Dyes only work on natural fibers (cotton, linen, h**p, bamboo, rayon, viscose, modal, etc.), are safe for city or septic systems, and will not bleed or fade.

50:1? 40:1? Ethanol free? Getting the right gas to power the tool you check out can be tricky. We often have problems where well meaning folks top off their tool with the wrong gas.

Which is why at the beginning of the year we switched to providing full tanks and additional gas canisters with each loan.

The problem? We didn’t budget for the increase in gas prices that we’ve seen.

To help cover those cost and to ensure that our tools are being used with the correct fuel, we are requesting a $3-$5 donation (via cash, venmo/paypal) when you take home an additional canister of gas to make sure you have enough fuel to get your job done.

We have two Open Sews this month and we would love for you to come create in community!

Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours to work on your own projects. We have a giant table perfect for laying out patterns and a stash of donated materials that might be just the thing you need to spark some creativity.

Are you interested in using our art balcony to host your own craft/art night! Become a Tool Libraru volunteer and you can reserve the Art Balcony for your own public facing event! We have space and we want the community to use it.

Join our instructors from as this Mushroom Identification workshop takes you deep into the complex world of identifying mushrooms, covering crucial features for safe foraging and characteristics of over 25 unique, rare, useful, and delectable mushroom species! We’ll take a close look at safe edibles and photographs of dangerous lookalikes of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Participants take home an illustrated local mushroom ID “cheat sheet” and recieve a copy of the electronic presentation to reference later.

We will have three equitable access seats available first come first serve. Reserve your spot ASAP!
