A powerful winter storm is expected this weekend and may cause power outages and downed power lines due to heavy snow and falling trees 🌲❄️. If you plan to use a portable or standby generator, please take a moment to review these important safety tips to protect your family and your home:

✅ Never operate generators indoors — including garages, basements, or near windows and doors 🚫🏠
✅ Place generators at least 20 feet from buildings and ensure proper ventilation 🌬️
✅ Use outdoor-rated extension cords only and avoid overloading circuits 🔌
✅ Allow generators to cool before refueling and store fuel safely away from heat 🔥
✅ Stay far away from downed power lines — always assume they are energized ⚠️
✅ Install carbon monoxide detectors for added protection 🛑

Congratulations to RI’s own Joe Mazzula, Boston Celtics coach on winning the NBA World Championship!!

Joe Mazzulla, a native of Johnston and Bishop Hendricken alumnus, has made history by becoming the youngest head coach in 55 years to lead a team to an NBA Championship. This achievement puts him in the same league as the legendary Bill Russell, who last accomplished this feat in 1969. The Boston Celtics just won their 18th championship by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5. The win breaks a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for most titles in NBA history. ☘️🏀

Smithfield Little League moves on after they scored five runs in the top of the 6th for a 7-2 victory over Media, Pennsylvania in the elimination game!
