Did you know the average recorded career length for a professional hoof trimmer is 10–16 years, while many who intentionally manage their bodies and stay active can trim for 20–40 years?

This trade takes grit, skill, and a body that can handle the work day after day.

If you’ve spent any amount of time around a group of hoof trimmers, you know these guys are a different breed.

Loyal. Full of grit. The kind of guys that feel like the big brother you always wanted.

And honestly… you kind of have to be.

When your day starts early and ends late, and you spend most of it on the back end of a cow, it takes a certain kind of person to keep showing up. These guys don’t do it because they have to — they do it because they love what they do and they love making a difference for the animals and the producers they serve.

And let’s be honest… the pay isn’t too bad either for these guys who are practically surgeons. 😉

Yesterday we joined the Western Canadian Certified Hoof Trimmer Association Conference. They spent afternoon with the Midwestern Hoof Trimming School and then had the chance to practice what they learned on an Appleton.
Great food, great people, make for a great time! Especially when you are in the company of trimmers.
